iPhone 3G TIPS:Download YouTube streams with fw 2.0

Good news! More and more firmware 1.1.4 applications are getting ported to firmware 2.0. One of my favorite 1.1.4 applications is MxTube. With MxTube, I can download my favorite YouTube streams permanently to my iPhone. In areas where I don't have EDGE or GPRS and no WIFI reception, I am still able to play the downloaded streams 'offline'. This is a cool feature when you are located in, for example, an airplane or on a remote campsite. Or I can avoid expensive data roaming abroad when watching online. Just have a look at the 1.1.4 MxTube post HERE. What is the good news then? Well, the developer just has announced to publish MxTube 2.0 within 5 days. Have a look at their blog HERE. MxTube will be available for Jailbroken iPhones 1st Gen and 3G with firmware 2.0. So this application is not available at App Store. One of the features is that downloads can processed in as background process. Apple does not allow applications running in background processes. [picture: fw 1.1.x MxTube release]

  1. Here's another tip you can save images from Safari and Mail too, just hold down on the image and click on "Save Image".
