iPhone review: Review Invisible Shields after 4 months of use

Protection shields are invented to protect your iPhone from scratches. But does they work well? Currently I am using / testing the Invisible Shields by Zagg. After 4 months of extensive use, I would like to share my experiences.

What did I use?
About 4 months ago, I received the full body version of the Invisible Shields. Transparent material which covers and protect my whole iPhone device surface. To apply this shields, I used the liquid spray which is included in the package. It is quiet easy to position the sticky shields when plenty liquid is sprayed on the sticky side of the shields. After the liquid has vaporized, the shield become solid and firm and wraps on my iPhone as a second skin. All air bubbles were gone within 24 hours.

No fingerprints and Not slippery anymore!
The first thing I noticed, my iPhone was not slippery anymore. Impossible that my iPhone would slip out of my hand. That is caused by the rubber-a-like feel it becomes after applying the shields.
The second sensation I noticed was that no fingerprints were left behind after touching my screen, Great! It looks like the screen shield did not allow me to leave any visible dirt behind, which is amazing. That is exactly the problem of the iPhone: You must clean it all day, with your tie or tissues etc. And now, No more cleaning is needed before every demo, because it is always fingerprint free. After the shield was applied, the touch surface felt slightly rougher then rather smooth before the application of it. It feels a kind of softer, more rubber-like touch feeling then rather a hard glass surface. But no worries, I got used to it in less than 1 minute! It feels good it feels safe and protected. Exactly how I wanted it.

After 4 months of heavily use
I must confess that I use a silicon case to transport my iPhone. This is mostly in the pocket of my jeans and at the dash of my car. However, when I use my iPhone, I remove the silicon case. About once a week I clean the shields and every time I do this, my iPhone is nice and shiny. As I said before, the ability to keep the iPhone screen clean from fingerprints is a pro. Combined with a anti-slip feel along with the lifetime guarantee definitely makes the Invisible Shields for iPhone 3G a good deal!

Conclusion

After 4 months of heavily use, the shields remains like new. Please look at the first 3 pictures. The shields are nice and shiny and it fully protects the iPhone body completely from scratches. Easily remove the shields, if you want to sell your iPhone as new. One tip from my side is about the iPhone buttons. See picture 4. When you apply the shields, make sure that you pressing the shield firmly at the spot between the volume button and the speaker on/off button. If you don't, it might get loose a bit and can make the whole look ugly. Of course this is the nature on how the iPhone is designed. So besides Zagg is an affiliate partner of IT&T, I can truly recommend to use this product. You won't go wrong with it. It protects, keeps the screen clean, and makes the iPhone less slippery. When you decide to use it, I can recommend to use a silicon case for transport only. Don't use tight sitting leather sleeves because that will make the shields loose, caused by the tension it makes to the edges of the shields.

thanks for the review and your unbiased opinion ... there is an Invisible Shield "cart" at a mall nearby and they install the shield right there on the spot ... your review is really tempting me to go grab one tomorrow.

Ok, here is my trick for the edges.
Everyone has commented that the edges get dirty, and look gross after a few months.

I fixed that.

First, trim it with a sharp knife so the edges don't overlap.

Second- I borrowed my wife's clear nail polish, and put a tiny amount over the seam.
sealed it completely, and keeps the scuz out.

I'll probably need to re-coat it ever several months as the nail polish is not as tough as the protector.
