- by iPhone-tips-tricks.com - Well well. Microsoft's Live Hotmail will finally support it's own ActiveSync technology this Monday. source: Microsoft's Dharmesh Mehta told CNET The fun part is that competitor Gmail has implemented ActiveSync support last year already. As I wrote about the multiple Exchange ActiveSync accounts support on iOS 4 [HERE], Hotmail users can add their Hotmail account to the iPhone's mail app in conjuction with their Gmail and Corporate Exchange accounts making the mail app as the all-in-one personal mail center in your pockets. Enabling you to manage and use Hotmail Calendaring, Email, and Contacts is often the last mile of gain total control of your personal and corporate information management. The reason is that many of us still have a very very old Hotmail address which you can't deny it, but till now the incoming hotmail email was often read and replied by the unhandy web user interface of mobile hotmail on your iphone.Last week I tried to connect my iPhone via an Exchange ActiveSync profile and for an iPhone with iOS 4.0.2 that goes like this:
- Tap Settings =>Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars =>Tap Add Account
- Then Tap Microsoft Exchange and enter the following
- Email : John@hotmail.com
- Domain: Leave blank
- Username: John@hotmail.com
- Password:
- Description: My Hotmail
- Tap Next, this will take 30 seconds before a response asking for a server
- Use m.hotmail.com as server
- SSL: ON
- by iPhone-tips-tricks.com - Everything looked fine, but no mail can retrieved or sent. Then I received the following message from the hotmail team in my regular Hotmail web interface:
Hello xxx,
To get Hotmail on-the-go, you recently tried to set up a service called ActiveSync from your mobile device.
We are really glad that you're interested, but we had so many sign-ups that we had to temporarily stop accepting new ones.
We're making constant improvements and we should be accepting new requests fairly soon. Please check the following website in about two weeks to see what's happening: http://windowslivehelp.com/solutions.aspx?categoryid=699b2703-2b62-4a92-86f2-9d5d52cc477d.
Thanks again for using Hotmail--we're really sorry about this delay.
Sincerely,
The Hotmail Team
Let's hope that within 24 hours Microsoft's Hotmail accounts are Microsoft's ActiveSync compatible !
It is working now! Thanks
ReplyDeleteGreat - wonderful - amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the info!
Finally! I have been waiting for soooo long. Now it works! Thank u
ReplyDeleteI can only set a 30 day duration.
ReplyDeleteI tried several times to have unlimited mail sync, then after many hours of syncing and having thousands of mails in my inbox it DELETE all my mail and start syncing all over again.
So far this has been a vicious circle.
Tried to reset, delete account etc etc.
Gmail with 5 exchange accountson iOS4.1 is working flawless, I have 10k+ mails with attachments.
Hotmail what's up ?
