iPhone TIP: Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 Prices listed per Country [Poster]

iPhone TIPS: iPhone 4 Arrives in 17 More Countries This Friday [UPDATED]

A new press release came out today from Apple, assuring the iPhone 4 is purchasable this friday 30th July in 17 countries including Italy, where I am staying for holiday. I will check out the TIM Vodafone and 3 shops in Rome.

[UPDATE July 30 2010] I have failed to get one (: First, I went to Centro Commercial Porta Di Roma. A huge shopping centre in Rome north, G.R.A. or A90 exit 9-10. I visited all the shops: The local Vodafone One shop here only want to sell one with a big fat subscription. No Sorry. The sales person told me to buy a Factory Unlocked at their Online Store. No Time for that. Then I ran to the local "3" shop or "Tre" and they were friendly and told me that the only sell with subscription. So I ran to the local TIM shop next door. They did not have any and they gave me the tip to go to the Apple Store in Roma Est, another Centro Commercial in Roma East! I drove to that huge shopping centre at Uschita Lunghezza at the Auto Strada A24. I ran to the Apple Store and  asked a Apple Genius. "I am sorry, the iPhone 4 is finished at 2 o'clock and may be restocked next week! Oh no! It is nearly 5 o'clock and I am leaving Italy tomorrow morning. Conclusion: One day of searching in Rome, Vodafone store, TIM store, 3 store, Apple Store. 2 shopping centres. No iPhone 4 Factory Unlocked but still 659 euros in my pocket! Thank god...
Please tell me if you succeeded to grab one at July 30th in Rome Italy. I want to hear your story! please comment...
  

My goal is a Factory Unlocked iPhone 4, so I can choose my favorite provider in my own country.

Beginning this Friday, customers can purchase iPhone 4 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. iPhone 4 will be available for purchase through Apple’s retail and online stores and Apple® Authorized Resellers.

Nothing new, country number 18, South Korea , is not part of the list yet declared earlier. The availability is now officially July 30.

iPhone 4 will be available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland this Friday, July 30. Phone 4 is currently available in France, Germany, Japan, the UK and the US for a suggested retail price of $199 (US) for the 16GB model and $299 (US) for the 32GB model. iPhone 4 will roll out to many more countries later this year and Apple will announce availability and local pricing for these additional countries at a later date.

iPhone TIPS: iOS 4.0.1 Arrived /w Bigger Bars 1,2,3

If you connect you iPhone to iTunes it will popup with a window telling you iOS 4.0.1 is available for download and install. After install you will notice that the 'reception' BARs 1,2 and 3, are taller. see my predicting post HERE. Please give us feedback about your findings. iPhone TIPS: How to Buy Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 ?

by iPhone-Tips-Tricks.com - Situation: The iPhone 4 is available in several countries now. But not in my country yet. However, I don't want to wait for it. I want a iPhone 4 now!. It is likely my favorite telco provider will in no way offer the iPhone 4 and I don't want to sign a expensive contract for two years with a provider I really don't like. What I do want is to buy just the device without contract or subscription. And the the iPhone 4 must be Factory Unlocked (aka SIM Lock free) so I am freely to go anytime to any provider.
Q: Where can I buy a SIM Lock free iPhone 4? A: Simple, at the moment of writing, you can buy the SIM Lock free iPhone 4 in France and the UK (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). Just plan a weekend or holiday to visit those countries. The following countries it is expected that they also sell them Factory Unlocked

iPhone TIPS: Bigger Bars in iOS 4.0.1 [picture]

- by iphone-tips-tricks.com - Apple's relation with BARs. First iPhones were jail broken the BARs by hackers. Lately Apple "lost" an iPhone 4 prototype in a BAR and now the iPhone 4 has dropping BARs. What is going on here? Lets talk about the latter case. I was right from the beginning and I always have said that the so called dead grip issue is a fixable software issue and that while nearly the whole world was pointing at the new iPhone 4 antenna design. [proof1 proof2] Apple has published this letter yesterday regarding the "dramatic drop in bars". Some software calculation problem causes us to see more bars than the real reception strength but then drops two or more bars, when I "gripping it" tightly, while the real reception strength has dropped less than the worth of 2 bars. I hope iOS 4.0.1 will fix this optical problem and maybe more under the hood. The letter also mentioned about changing the bar sizes in iOS 4.0.1

"We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see."

So I thought about how this exactly should look like. The result is shown in this picture.We wait for iOS 4.0.1 or (whatever the update will be called) and see if I was close or not.

iPhone TIPS: Fix Sluggish iPhone 3G with Hard Reset

Situation:
After I updated mine to iOS 4.0 I had noticed my iPhone 3G was really sluggish. If I start my settings app, it took more than 15 seconds to start. Or my mail app took tens of seconds to start. Open an email message took seconds instead of instantly. Flicking through my apps sometimes freezes a second before it goes on, very annoying. Or start the Safari app to web browse the internet took ages. A restart by, press and hold the power button, didn't help. Clearing my Safari cache did help a bit but not really measurable. So what is going on? Where is the speed of iOS 3.0 when I bought my iPhone 3G two years ago? But I am so glad to tell you now, I have fixed it! Let me tell you how.
Solution:
The answer is to do a "hard reset" and do it three times. Yes I know, It sounds silly to do this three times but just do it and do it now. To do a hard reset, you must press BOTH the Power and Home button a few seconds until a slide appears "slide to power off". Now slide to power off. after about 15 seconds the iPhone completely shuts down. Now wait 1 minute and power on the iPhone again by press and hold the power button until an apple logo appears on the screen. Now wait till it is up and running. Enter your 4 digit code to unlock the phone. Do you already notice the speed of unlocking the phone function? Now repeat this two more times: power off ,wait for 1 minute, power on, then power off, wait for 1 minute, power on.
Okay, when you are finished, test if you notice better response of your iPhone. Does it perform more like the brand new iPhone when you first had unboxed it? Okay, to be honest, this fix helped me. Your situation might be different and this fix might not work for you. Please share your results and findings with us.

iPhone TIPS: Steve Replies "We are working on it" on iPhone 4 signal issue

Great, Steve is replying emails again from his iPhone. A Boy Genius Report reader has a pretty interesting story to share. The BGR exclusive post  contains an email conversation with Steve Jobs and the BGR reader. The subject is of course the iPhone 4 drop call issue. We were pretty certain this so called Grip of Death (GoD) issue is caused by software and that it will be fixed in iOS 4.0.1 or later. However, "Apple doesn’t seems to consider this as an issue" Two replies from Steve in that particular email conversation that I found interesting:

"No, you are getting all worked up over a few days of rumors. Calm down."

"You may be working from bad data. Not your fault. Stay tuned. We are working on it.
Sent from my iPhone"

This gives hope for the iPhone 4 owners who experiences this issue. The big questions are: Where is Apple currently working on and for how many days must we Stay Tuned for ? Our guess remains unchanged: iOS 4.0.1 or later will fix it? If you hope for this too, please leave a comment.
Meanwhile, if you want to avoid scratches in the front or back of your new iPhone 4 then why not also stick some iPhone 4 Screen Protector  like invisible shields to protect it. Mean while, let's wait for iOS 4.0.1 the coming days before making the issues bigger in our head. I trust everything will come OK soon.
